Sandburg Men Earn Blowout Road Victory at Kishwaukee

MALTA — The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team shot 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range in earning an 82-60 blowout victory at Kishwaukee on Thursday night in Arrowhead Conference action.

Connor Barnett (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) scored a team-high 14 points for the Chargers (13-8, 2-2) while hitting 5 of 7 shots, including both of his 3-point attempts.

Freshman Hunter Caves (Alburnett, Iowa/Alburnett) scored 11 while knocking down all five of his attempts from the floor. Caves also hit his lone free throw, grabbed six rebounds and had three assists, three steals and three blocks in a stellar performance off the bench. Freshman Eric Price (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) came on in a reserve role to score 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting and dish out a team-best five assists for Sandburg.

Matt Williams (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) scored a dozen for Sandburg, which was 34 of 57 from the floor and hit 9 of its 18 3-point attempts. The Chargers led 43-24 at halftime and held the Kougars to 33 percent shooting (20 of 60) for the contest.
